Abortion… Should it stay or go?

Everyone has their opinion on this subject, and I’m no different. I’ve always been a “to each their own” kind of person, as long as it doesn’t affect me personally, you do what you want with your life and body.

Morally, it is extremely wrong to abort a human life. There are medical reasons like ectopic pregnancy or I think it was called a tubal pregnancy or, birth defects in which the mother or child won’t survive childbirth. I’m definitely not an expert on this. However, from a very young parents' perspective, I can say without a shadow of a doubt, that I would have NEVER aborted any of my children. That being said, I do understand there are some circumstances that are beyond anyone's control, like the aforementioned medical reasons or rape.

People aren’t using it as a last-ditch effort. They’re embracing the fact that they can be irresponsible, sleep around, not use birth control and have a “whoops” as someone I know so elegantly puts it, and not deal with the consequences of their actions. The morning after pill exists for a reason, and there are plenty of places you can get it affordably. So, why put yourself and your unborn child through an abortion when there are preventative measures available?

I have heard of people using abortion as a way to manipulate a man into submitting to their demands, and I’ve heard of people aborting a child just because they couldn’t be bothered with the act of taking care of a child. If someone decides that they’re never going to want children, why not get sterilized so you don’t have to worry about it?

I have a strong belief that not everyone should have children, some people just aren’t meant to be parents. I respect that. What I don’t respect is that people are using this very invasive medical procedure to dodge responsibility, or because they don’t “feel like” being a parent. I’ve talked to many people about this subject in my lifetime and presented this logic to them and they agreed that it would be much easier to get sterilized and not have to worry about getting pregnant, rather than going through an abortion.

With all of this being said, I don’t think it’s a good idea to overturn Roe Vs Wade, because regardless of all I said above, I will always believe in “To each their own” it’s not my body, it’s not my life or that of my child, so it’s none of my business.
